The Dylan Thomas Fringe exists to provide a showcase for the best in up and coming talent in the performing arts from Swansea and South West Wales, combined with a range of acts from further afield. Established in 2005, following a successful pilot event the previous year, the Fringe has grown steadily incorporating a wide array of performers and events.
In 2007 the Swansea Fringe has been rebranded and repositioned as the Dylan Thomas Fringe, expanding the remit of the main Dylan Thomas Festival to include a more eclectic range of acts. Combined with the awarding in 2006 of the first Dylan Thomas Prize for literature, the Dylan Thomas Fringe completes a raft of initiatives in Swansea to nurture and encourage young creative talent; showcased in the ugly lovely town of Dylan’s birth.
Swansea Fringe Ltd. is a not-for-profit company established in 2005 by community arts provider Tunetown Ltd. and the Swansea Arts Forum Trust Ltd.
